2009 Mazda Cars Review

History
Having forayed into the Canadian market in 1968 with the R100 coupe, Mazda entered the US in 1970 by forming the Mazda Motor of America Inc. Its earliest entries were the RX-2 in 1971, and the rotary-powered RX-3 the following year. This model earned the distinction of being the first ever vehicle to pass new US standards for regulating exhaust emissions in 1973. The RX-4; the GLC, or the Great Little Car; the RX-7 sports car; the 626 series and the B2000 were some of the important models from Mazda in the 1970's decade. In 1979, Ford Motor Company purchased a 24.5 percent stake in Mazda Motor Corporation. In 1990, the MX-5 Miata, one of Mazda's all-time favorites, was released. In that year, the Mazda 787B won the prestigious Le Mans race, becoming the first vehicle with a rotary engine to do so.

Expansion
This Japanese automaker is one of the worlds leading companies. It is known the world over for delivering cars that are fun and inexpensive. The Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. Ltd, which was how the company was initially called, was started in 1920. Its name was changed to The Toyo Kogyo Co. Ltd in 1927. Its founder, Jujiro Matsuda, was believed to be a deeply spiritual man who was inspired by the Ahura Mazda, the holy book of the ancient Zoroastrian religion. He named his first vehicle, a three-wheel vehicle Mazda. The other interpretation given to this name is that it is an Anglicized version of the founders name. Throughout World War II, the company manufactured army vehicles. Following this, it made efforts to be different from other Japanese manufacturers by having its vehicle fitted with the Wankel rotary system. This step was never a big success elsewhere, but most of Mazdas vehicles are run to this day on this engine type. The first Mazda vehicle was the R360 coupe, which was introduced in 1960. In that decade, some of its popular models included B-Series 1500 and the 110S Cosmo Sport.

Models
Mazda B Series
The 2009 Mazda B Series Truck now has two variants -the B2300 and the B4000. For 2009, the Mazda B Series has discontinued the high-end Cab Plus 4x4 SE model; also gone are four exterior colors. The AM/FM radio now comes with fewer station presets. A Class III trailer hitch is made standard for this year.

Mazda CX-7

The Mazda CX-7 is a crossover that offers the best of two types of vehicles -the utility of an SUV with the smoothness of a car. For 2009, dual illuminated vanity mirrors and an auxiliary audio jack are given as standard equipment for the Mazda CX-7. On the Grand Touring models, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and integrated turn signals in the side mirrors are given as standard equipment.

Mazda CX-9

The Mazda CX-9,
which got a largely upgraded engine for 2008, makes changes that are of a peripheral nature for 2009. These changes are huge in number, though. For this year, a trip computer is made standard on all models, while all-wheel-drive engines have a standard towing package. The Grand Touring trim is given an auto-dimming rearview mirror that comes with Homelink buttons. Most trims are given Sirius Satellite Radio and Bluetooth wireless phone communication for this year.

Mazda3

The 2009 Mazda3
is an exciting sports car. It offers a variety of engines across many trims in its sedan and hatchback versions. For 2009, it has stressed on improving safety. Its safety features have gone up. Antilock brakes, as well as side-impact and side curtain airbags are now made standard across the trims.

Mazda5

Having carried out major changes in 2008, the 2009 model offers few novelties. The only notable additions are the new Liquid Silver color and a choice of more exterior colors for vehicles with the Sand interior.

Mazda6

This front-wheel drive sedan carries a number of changes for 2009. Both its interiors and exteriors are reshaped for this year. Apart from being given more powertrains and new transmission options, engines with inline cylinders offer more trims. The hatchback and wagon versions are discontinued for this year.

MazdaSpeed3

This is a compact, yet powerful hatchback. This five-door vehicle is offered in two trims, Sport and Grand Touring. It offers no significant changes for 2009.

Mazda RX-8

The RX-8,
which is a rotor-powered sports car, carries some changes inside and out for 2009. While the engine has not been altered, it now rides on a stiffer driveshaft. The rear suspension is revised, and the exhaust tips are larger. Also, the seats are made bigger, while a new steering wheel is given. Also new is a tachometer that has a variable redline that moves in tandem with the engine temperature. A new package, the R3 Sport, is available from this year.

Mazda Tribute

The Mazda Tribute's
engine is almost totally redone for 2009. Following changes done on the interior and exterior in 2008, Mazda has concentrated on changes for the engine this year. Both its four-cylinder and V-6 engines are now made more powerful, and are expected to offer better fuel economy as well. Both these get a new six-speed automatic transmission. On the peripheral side, its front and rear seats are slightly redesigned.

Mazda Tribute Hybrid

The Mazda Tribute Hybrid
has one unique feature -it can run 100 percent on electric energy. Sold in only limited editions in only California, it carries some core changes in 2009. Its 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine is new. It also offers improved mileage and performance. The new damping system given for this year cuts noise, while the braking has been made more efficient. The 2009 model also gets some additional standard equipment.
